Everything Kokai does, feature by feature
Kokai is an app to plan trips and take along on them. Before you leave, you save places on a map, build each day’s plan, compare places to stay and store tickets and passport; during the trip, On the road mode alerts you when you pass near something you don’t want to miss. Everything important lives on your device and works offline.

Before the trip and during the trip
Kokai has two halves that live together in every trip. Before is what you do calmly, ideally on a big screen: the map with your places, each day’s plan, each night’s accommodation, the documents, the packing list and the AI-powered interests. During is what you do with your phone in your pocket: On the road mode, which alerts you when you pass near your places, records your route and reminds you where you’re sleeping tonight.

What works offline
You look at a trip on a plane, in a country where you have no data or in the boarding queue. That’s why the important things are on the device and don’t depend on the network:

This website describes what the app does today. What’s built but can’t be used yet is labelled “Soon”, and what doesn’t exist yet is described as pending:

How these pages are made
Each feature page explains one part of the app with its real figures (radii, times, limits), taken from the code, and ends with the steps to check it yourself in the app, frequently asked questions and links to the original documentation of what it cites. Each one says when it was last reviewed.
All of them also have a Markdown version (the one for On the road, for example, is at /en-ruta.md), and there’s an index for AI assistants at /llms.txt, with the full text at /llms-full.txt.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to create an account?
Yes, to save your trips and have them on your other devices. You create it with your email, and only the first sign-in on each device needs a connection.
Do I have to use AI?
No. Everything works without AI: the map, the plan, the documents, the alerts. AI is an optional helper to discover places and suggest a plan, and it only switches on if you add your key.
How is it different from a map with saved places?
The map is just the beginning: places are arranged into days with estimated transfers, each night has its accommodation, your tickets are right there and, during the trip, the app alerts you when you pass near them.
