GR 11, Spain: what it is and when to go
The GR-11 crosses the Spanish Pyrenees from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean along the southern slope, linking valleys and mountain huts. This eastern end drops from the Alt Empordà to the sea: a landscape of slate, vineyards and tramontana wind, very different from the alpine stages of Aragon and Lleida. You walk on a path waymarked with white and red stripes. The best time to visit is April to June and September to October. In June there are 15 h 05 of daylight, and in December, 8 h 55.
